Providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act remains a challenge for employers. Recent developments have provided additional challenges in providing reasonable accommodations. Specifically, in late 2022, Congress passed the Pregnant Worker’s Fairness Act, and in 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court provided clarification of the standard for reasonably accommodating an employee or applicant’s sincerely held religious belief. Our presenters will discuss the ways in which these obligations are similar, how they differ, and provide best practices for complying with all three laws.
